Cooking in Italy

HI, MY NAME IS FABIAN

How I got into cooking

I made my first attempts at cooking when I was about 6 years old, trying to replicate children’s recipes from TV in our home kitchen on Sunday mornings, hoping not to leave behind too much of a mess.

In my youth, my interest in food and cooking grew even greater. I started to recreate international recipes from Jamie Oliver, Gordon Ramsay and other famous TV Chefs. So it happened that after school, I spent much time in the kitchen, cooking Appetizers and dinners, or making desserts for my family or friends. At this time I couldn’t get enough of learning everything about Spices, Flavours, and quality ingredients from around the world so as everything about cooking equipment and cooking techniques.

When I turned 18, I bought my first ever professional Chef’s knife for about 300$ as quality pans and pots or other cooking equipment with my savings. This investment changed a lot in my cooking journey and I’m still using my beloved Knife and some of the other cooking equipment til today. However in the next few years, of course, a lot of cooking utensils were added. 😉

After I learned which flavours, spices and ingredients from different world cuisines match together really well, I stopped replicating recipes from others and started to create and develop my own recipes. Over the years, I travelled over 50 countries where I have always been mostly interested in their culture and especially the local cuisine, to learn as much as possible about it

Today, I’m 34 years old and living in Bern Switzerland, I cook one or more times a day and still can’t get enough of all the lovely flavours and ingredients the world and international cuisines have to offer.

The story behind this food blog

I started this food blog to share my passion for food, to inspire others to get more confident in home cooking and to give something back from what I learned about the beauty of cooking.

For me, food is the universal language that connects all of us people around the world, no matter which language we speak, where we live or at which age we are. Eating is what brings people together, eating is something we all have to do on a regular basis, and therefore takes a major part in our lives.

I’m aware that cooking is not everyone’s priority. But for everyone interested in learning more about international & flavourful recipes, kitchen equipment and cooking techniques, this blog is for you!

My goal with this blog is to take you by the hand, providing delicious recipes as cooking guides, no matter if you’re a beginner or an experienced cook already.
